On July 8, 2025, at Orio al Serio Airport in Bergamo, one of Europe’s most awarded airports in the 5–15 million passenger category according to ACI World, the unthinkable happened.
A man bypassed the checks, crossed the security gates, and threw himself into the running engine of a taxiing aircraft.
A dramatic act, witnessed by stunned passengers and staff, that has forced an urgent reflection on the very concept of airport security.
Despite the high infrastructural standards, the incident revealed how even the most advanced systems can show vulnerabilities, and that risk can never be completely eliminated but only managed with awareness, method, and the right tools.
SEA promotes Airport Hunter: an advanced response to the new risk scenarios
In this perspective lies SEA’s decision, the private security company managing Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate airports, to promote the development and adoption of the Airport Hunter platform, created by Vigilar Group, as an advanced response to the new challenges in airport security.
The project was strongly promoted and supported by the Security division of the Milan airport system, which directly oversaw its design and implementation. In close synergy with the professionals of Vigilar Group, the project developed over several months, giving rise to an innovative platform that today stands as a strategic asset for the governance of airport security.
Airport Hunter: an integrated system for smart security management
Managing security, not just monitoring it
Con Airport Hunter, SEA e Vigilar Group propongono un nuovo modello operativo: non più solo presidiare il rischio, ma managing it in a structured, efficient, and measurable way. This makes it possible to manage security continuously and adaptively, with clear benefits both in everyday operations and during audits, ENAC inspections, or critical moments. Essentially, Airport Hunter allows for the early detection of vulnerabilities and weak links, enabling timely and effective intervention.
A new standard for the future of airports
Because today more than ever, security is not just an operational task, but a strategic responsibility. And the future begins right here.
A continuously evolving journey
Airport Hunter is only the first step in a project designed for continuous growth. The platform will be progressively enhanced with new features, tailored to the needs of airport management and to the evolving risk scenarios that may arise over time. Among the upcoming developments, a dedicated investigative and reputational section is already underway, aimed at anticipating risks posed by external actors before they materialize.
By integrating OSINT tools such as our Info Hunter, along with behavioral and predictive analysis modules, the platform will further strengthen the ability of airport infrastructures to detect weak signals, information anomalies, and latent threats.
A dynamic, adaptive solution, increasingly central to shaping a truly safe, modern, and forward-looking airport ecosystem, positioning SEA, together with Linate and Malpensa airports, at the forefront of innovation, prevention, and full risk governance, and reinforcing their standing among Europe’s leading airports.
Bravissimo Davide! Vigilar al vertice della Sicurezza! 💪👏
